Student Awards

The Student paper awards given by the SCCR are in honor of the memory of Dr. Leigh Minturn. Two prizes will be awarded to student authors. One award will be given for the best Graduate Student Paper and the other for the best Undergraduate Student Paper presented at the annual meetings.

The Judith L. Gibbons Award for Research on Culture and Gender is in honor of long time SCCR member Dr. Judith L. Gibbons, Professor Emerita of Psychology at Saint Louis University. The award is given yearly to a graduate student or early career professional (within 7 years of receiving their PhD) who presents research on culture and gender at the annual SCCR meeting. Both paper and poster presentations will be considered by the award committee. The recipient of the award receives $200 and a plaque.

In addition, two prizes will be awarded to the best Student Posters

Students must be in attendance in Portland to receive a prize.

Best Student Paper Deadline: December 31, 2015

Applicants should submit:
The completed paper
A brief note from the applicant's supervising faculty member indicating that the student is a full time student in good standing at his/her academic institution

Student posters will be adjudged at the conference.

Travel Award Deadline: November 30, 2015

Having more than one year of SCCR membership and/or conference participation will be given favorable consideration.
Applicants should submit:
A letter of intent justifying the request for funding
A brief Curriculum Vitae Description of conference role (paper presentation, poster presentation, etc.)

International Scholar Travel Award Deadline: November 30, 2015

Having more than one year of SCCR membership and/or conference participation will be given favorable consideration. Applicants must reside outside of the U.S.
Applicants should submit:
A letter of intent justifying the request for funding
A brief Curriculum Vitae Description of conference role (paper presentation, poster presentation, etc.)
